Excitement surrounding Eid al Fitr is growing as the first day, likely to be on April 10 in Oman based on astronomical data, approaches.
Abdulwahab al Busaidy, Head of Observatory at Oman Astronomical Society, informed the Observer that there is a 99.9% probability that Eid al Fitr will occur on Wednesday (April 10).
According to Al Busaidy, the visibility of the crescent on April 9 just after sunset makes it easy to predict Eid al Fitr celebrations on April 10 in Oman and other neighboring Islamic and Arab countries.
The extended visibility of the moon on the horizon for up to 50 minutes after sunset, with an elimination rate of only 1.2%, allows for easy naked-eye observation of the crescent, as explained by Al Busaidy.
Eid is a highly anticipated festival in the Islamic calendar, with extensive preparations including shopping, planning outings, and traveling taking place in the weeks leading up to the day.
Both government and private sectors in Oman now receive an equal number of holidays, a move welcomed by employees, particularly during long breaks like Eid holidays.
