Muscat: The Embassy of Tanzania commemorated the 60th anniversary of the union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar, which resulted in the establishment of the United Republic of Tanzania. This significant milestone was attended by government officials, diplomats, ambassadors accredited to the sultanate, business leaders, the Tanzanian diaspora, and Omani investors.
During her speech, Her Excellency, the Tanzanian Ambassador, reflected on the nation's journey since April 26, 1964, when Presidents Julius Nyerere and Abeid Karume united their countries. Over the past six decades, Tanzania has experienced remarkable economic growth, achieving lower-middle-income status with an average annual growth rate of 6%.
The Ambassador emphasized the deep historical connections between Tanzania and Oman, highlighting substantial Omani investments in agriculture and tourism. The direct flights provided by Oman Air from Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar to Muscat further exemplify the strength of this robust relationship.
Under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President Hussein Ali Mwinyi, Tanzania continues to improve its infrastructure and investment climate, creating more opportunities for investors. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in ensuring the well-being of Tanzanians residing in Oman.
The celebration included a vibrant cultural show and recognized individuals, such as the Dream Team Explore, for their exploration of Tanzania's tourist sites. Additionally, an exhibition showcasing Tanzanian products was organized.
The event concluded with a call to strengthen bilateral relations and foster mutual prosperity between Tanzania and Oman.
