Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is set to participate in the World Urbanism Festival "MIPIM 2025" on Tuesday, taking place in Cannes, France, over a four-day period. This year's festival centers on the theme “Shaping Sustainable Cities” and is expected to draw approximately 20,000 attendees from 90 countries, including investors, real estate developers, urban planners, and architects, thereby serving as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and the formation of global partnerships.
Oman's pavilion will showcase several significant development initiatives, such as the Sultan Haitham City project, the Al Khuwair Downtown project, the Salalah Future City project, the Oman Mountain Front project, and the Thuraya City project. These projects embody Oman’s commitment to creating integrated and sustainable urban environments.
Jamal Nasser Al Hadi, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, stated: “Through this participation, Oman aims to showcase its competitive investment landscape, unveil major urban projects that offer valuable opportunities for international investors, and strengthen its role as a regional hub for real estate development. This will be achieved by leveraging cutting-edge technologies in the construction of smart and sustainable cities, which will enhance the readiness of the real estate market and attract foreign investment.”
He further emphasized that Oman’s involvement in this global event is intended to broaden its network of strategic partnerships with both governmental and private sectors, solidifying its status as an investment destination in the real estate market at both regional and international levels, in alignment with the objectives of the "Oman 2040" vision.
The Sultanate of Oman seeks to bolster its global competitiveness through active participation in international forums, focusing on enhancing the real estate investment environment. This initiative aims to showcase the distinctive opportunities available to global investors and attract high-quality investments by unveiling significant development projects that foster the growth of the real estate sector. Emphasis will be placed on integrating cutting-edge technologies to create smart and sustainable urban areas.
As part of this engagement, several discussion sessions will be conducted, including one led by Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shuaili. This session will explore “The Impact of Long-Term Demographic Changes on Creating Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Differences between Europe and Other Countries.” Additionally, nine panel discussions will take place at the Oman Pavilion, addressing critical topics related to future projects and investment strategies within the real estate and urban development sectors.
Furthermore, the Sultan Haitham City project has advanced to the final stage of the “MIPIM 2025” Awards, being recognized as one of the top four global projects. This prestigious award is significant in the real estate industry, celebrating innovative contributions to urban development and sustainability. Projects will be assessed based on various criteria, including innovation, design, environmental impact, and their role in enhancing quality of life. The awards ceremony is scheduled for next Thursday, attended by a diverse group of investors and real estate developers from around the globe.
