Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, is presently hosting the 3rd International Bee Exhibition and Conference, titled "Africa Bee Expo2024".
A multitude of 37 nations have participated in this event, which is designed to foster the development of beekeeping and to expand business opportunities for both companies and individuals, with a particular focus on small and medium enterprises.
The inaugural ceremony took place on Wednesday, under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of scientific, technological, and cultural knowledge on a global scale, while also enhancing the professional and commercial capabilities of beekeepers. This includes the ability to export and penetrate global markets, attract investors within the agricultural sector, transform industries, and add value to hive products, thereby opening new avenues for tourism and alternative medicine, utilizing hive products that have been internationally approved.
The event spans four days and features participation from a diverse array of experts, researchers, and specialists from various academic and research institutions, beekeepers, numerous regional and international organizations, and private sector companies involved in the fields of beekeeping and honey production and manufacturing.
The conference's activities include the presentation of numerous working papers on a variety of subjects, including the preservation of local honey bee breeds and the safety and quality of honey based on Gulf specifications.
