Haima: Al Wusta Governorate is poised for significant economic growth due to its strategic geographical location. The governorate is already home to major projects under the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), establishing it as a prominent global investment destination.
Governor Sheikh Ahmed Musallam Al Kathiri emphasized that the development projects in the governorate contribute to the improvement of services, entertainment, and tourism. He highlighted notable projects such as the Suqra-Lakbi seafront in the Wilayat of Al Jazir, Ras Madarka in the Wilayat of Duqm, and Shannah in the Wilayat of Mahout, along with lush parks.
Furthermore, Al Kathiri revealed that the Governorate of Al Wusta will soon witness the unveiling of several other economic projects, including the Haima seafront. These initiatives aim to further enhance the region's economic prospects.
The governor also mentioned ongoing projects in Al Wusta, such as the development of internal roads, the Mahout seafront, a service station in the Wilayat of Duqm, and the Rima area development project in the Wilayat of Al Jazir. These endeavors reflect the commitment to comprehensive growth and development in the governorate.
Al Kathiri emphasized that the projects in Al Wusta will have a price range of OMR4-6 million and will directly benefit the local community while also boosting the tourism industry.
He clarified that SEZAD plays a crucial role in the national economic gateways that enhance economic and commercial activities.
He further explained that the collaboration between the Al Wusta Governor's Office and SEZAD aims to maximize the advantages of investments in areas such as healthcare, education, tourism, and entertainment. Additionally, they work together to improve infrastructure and create job opportunities for the residents of the governorate.
Al Kathiri highlighted that the government of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has devised strategies and plans to encourage larger establishments to support small and medium enterprises.
He also mentioned that the Governor's Office is currently exploring the possibility of utilizing airports owned by various entities and companies in Al Wusta Governorate to increase flights connecting Muscat and Salalah to Al Wusta Governorate. This initiative aims to facilitate access to tourist sites, events, and activities scheduled for the upcoming period, as well as to ease the movement of citizens and employees within the governorate.
