Zip Line, Climbing Trails Coming To Wadi Al Shab In Tourism Drive

Muscat: Wadi Al Shab, one of Oman's most picturesque destinations, is poised for a transformational tourist boost with the opening of a huge adventure park featuring a zip line, mountain climbing routes, suspension bridges, walking trails, swimming areas, and a diverse choice of restaurants and cafés.

The project was unveiled as part of a package of three usufruct agreements worth more than OMR56 million signed on Sunday by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, with the goal of improving the Sultanate's tourist infrastructure.

The Wadi Al Shab development, to be carried out by OMRAN Group, aims to convert the spectacular valley in the Wilayat of Sur into a year-round adventure and ecotourism hotspot. Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of the OMRAN Group, signed the deal.

Wadi Al Shab is noted for its diverse biodiversity, geological beauties, and running waterways. With this project, the OMRAN Group wants to transform it into a premier destination that combines nature, leisure, and sustainability.

The new adventure park is intended to attract both national and international visitors, with activities for thrillseekers and families.

The resort will provide an exciting outdoor experience with zip lines and rugged climbing routes, as well as peaceful walking paths and natural swimming places for youngsters and adults. A variety of cafés and restaurants will be available to complement the adventure activities, providing visitor comfort and extending their stay.

Wadi Al Shab has long been renowned for its stunning turquoise ponds, hidden caves, and majestic cliffs. The new proposal aims to protect these natural characteristics while providing planned access and amenities that promote responsible exploration.

In addition to Wadi Al Shab, two more agreements for integrated tourist facilities were signed on Sunday.

The Khasab Development and Investment Company will build the Sandan - Khasab Pearl, which will be located on 43,658 square metres in the Wilayat of Khasab. It has a 200-room four-star hotel, 450 residential units available for Omani and foreign ownership, a heritage market, and several recreational and eating alternatives. Hilal Nasser Al Harthy, Managing Director of Khasab Development and Investment Company, signed the agreement.

Hamyan Village, in Halban, Wilayat of Nakhl, will cover 201,000 square metres and include a 156-room 4-star hotel, 535 residential units including flats and villas, a market, restaurants, a water park, and supporting facilities. Saud Hamad Al Ta'ei, Managing Director of Hamyan Investment and Project Development Company, signed the deal.

The agreements represent a watershed moment in Oman's continuous attempts to diversify its economy via tourism, in accordance with Oman Vision 2040. According to the ministry, all three projects are being designed with a focus on sustainability, cultural preservation, and local employment development. ONA
