Vaccines Must For Umrah: MoH

Vaccines Must For Umrah: MoH

The Ministry of Health (MoH) hereby issues a directive to both citizens and residents intending to undertake Umrah, underscoring the paramount importance of securing essential vaccinations for their safety. It is incumbent upon individuals to make appointments at healthcare facilities within their respective governorates to obtain specific vaccines prior to their pilgrimage.

For protection against meningococcal meningitis, a single injection grants immunity against the disease for a period of five years. Individuals who have received their vaccine and possess documentation can delay receiving subsequent vaccinations until five years have elapsed since their previous dose. This policy is in place to ensure ongoing protection from the disease.

Moreover, the Ministry advises pilgrims to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine every year. This vaccination not only protects against complications associated with the flu but also bolsters immunity against various influenza strains that travelers may encounter during their journey and pilgrimage.

In addition to these specific vaccines, it is recommended that individuals consider visiting local travel medicine clinics well in advance of their departure. These clinics offer vital vaccinations, preventive medicines, and in-depth health advice customized to the specific health needs of their intended destinations. Such preparation is crucial for ensuring a journey that is both healthy and secure.

To maintain public health standards and reduce the risk of infection for both travelers and the local communities, the Ministry of Health emphasizes the necessity of completing vaccination schedules at least ten days prior to the commencement of their journey. This forward-thinking approach is designed to protect individual health and contribute to the well-being of the community during the pilgrimage season.

For further clarification on vaccination timetables and advice on health precautions, individuals are encouraged to reach out to their local healthcare providers or consult the official channels of the Ministry of Health.
