Muscat: In collaboration with the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has initiated a project aimed at assessing the impact of the digital economy on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This initiative is set to continue until May 2025.
The objective of the project is to evaluate the added value generated by the communications and information technology sector, as well as the contributions from financial and insurance services that are exclusively offered through digital platforms.
The survey will target various establishments within the communications and information technology sector, including large, medium, small, and micro enterprises, along with those involved in digital financial and insurance services.
Approximately 1,300 establishments across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman will be included in the survey, which will concentrate on data from these entities for the year 2023 as the primary reference point.
