The ongoing passage of clouds of differing elevations over the Arabian Sea is anticipated to culminate in sporadic thunderstorms across Al Wusta, Dhofar, the Hajar Mountains, and their adjacent regions.
The Oman Meteorological Office has issued a warning for scattered thunderstorms, with the possibility of heavy rain, on Thursday. These conditions are expected to be accompanied by strong winds across various segments of the Hajar Mountains, as well as the desert regions of Dhofar and Al Wusta.
Residents have already witnessed scattered rainfall along the coast, in the mountains of the Dhofar, and have reported further potential for thunderstorms in the coming days.
Weather forecasts have indicated that the Al Dakhiliya, Al Dhahira, and North Al Sharqiya areas, in addition to Dhofar and Al Wusta Governorates, could also be impacted by these conditions.
The Oman Meteorological Office has cautioned about the presence of downdrafts and flash floods. Additionally, winds over the coastal areas of the Oman Sea are expected to range from easterly to northeasterly, with wave heights varying from 4.0 meters (maximum) to 1.5 meters (maximum) for the Arabian Sea coast and the rest of the coastline areas.
It is anticipated that sea conditions will be particularly turbulent along the coast of the Oman Sea, with wave heights expected to reach 4.0 meters (maximum). The frequency of these winds is expected to be light to moderate, with the strongest intensities observed during the day, transitioning to a less frequent, but variable, less intense wind pattern at night.
