Muscat; The Ministry of Education has affirmed its commitment to the continuation of French and German as elective subjects for students in grades 11-12 within certain educational directorates across the governorates of Muscat, North Al Batinah, and South Al Batinah.
Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, the Minister of Education, has issued Ministerial Resolution No. 192/2024. This resolution rescinds the provisions of Ministerial Resolutions No. (389/2011) and (129/2022), which were related to the establishment and operation of a special committee tasked with the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of French and German language education.
This decision is part of the Ministry's broader strategy to enhance the teaching of various foreign languages in the forthcoming years, which includes the introduction of Chinese language education. Furthermore, it aligns with the establishment of a Foreign Languages Curriculum Section within the Humanities Curriculum Development Department of the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development. Additionally, it transfers the responsibilities and competencies of the committee mentioned in the two rescinded resolutions to this department.
