Tamkeen Seeks To Boost Research And Innovation

Muscat: The Tamkeen Research and Innovation Lab has commenced a program aimed at enhancing the pivotal role of research and innovation within the domestic development framework.

This initiative, scheduled to conclude on 3 October 2024, will concentrate on evaluating the present state of the national research and innovation system. Furthermore, it seeks to pinpoint critical challenges and propose strategies for their resolution.

Tamkeen will collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to foster integration and shared objectives.

This program, rooted in the strategies of Oman Vision 2040, is dedicated to positioning the Sultanate of Oman among the top twenty nations in the Global Innovation Index. It advocates for efforts to achieve holistic and sustainable national development through the lens of knowledge, research, and innovation.

Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, delivered a speech during which she emphasized the lab's goal to establish a national system in Oman and strengthen its contribution to economic and social development.

The Global Innovation Index serves as a critical resource for policymakers, providing them with the means to assess economic competitiveness relative to leading international benchmarks.
