Muscat: The American International School of Muscat (TAISM) is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Lee as the new School Director, effective July 1, 2024. Mr. Lee has assumed this esteemed position following the departure of Kevin Schafer at the conclusion of the 2023-24 academic year.
Mr. Lee brings a wealth of experience to his role, having been an integral member of the TAISM community for 19 years. His tenure has been distinguished, particularly during his tenure as the Middle School Principal, where he has played a pivotal role in cultivating a school environment that prioritizes community, wellness, and inclusivity. His commitment to creating a sense of belonging and mutual respect is evident in his daily interactions with students, staff, and parents.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of international education, Mr. Lee was honored as one of the distinguished two international school educators to receive the National Distinguished Principals Award from the U.S.-based National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) in 2022. This award was presented at a ceremony in Washington DC, acknowledging his outstanding leadership and dedication to the advancement of education at the international level.
Mr. Lee's educational background is distinguished, having earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Gustavus Adolphus College, a Master's in Education from St. Mary's University, and an Ed.S. in Education Leadership from Capella University. His leadership is characterized by a steadfast commitment to excellence and a profound dedication to the educational and personal growth of each student.

Peter Lee's 19 years of dedicated service at TAISM, coupled with his deep understanding of our community, positions him as uniquely qualified to guide the school into its forthcoming phase."
Regarding his new role, Mr. Lee expressed, "At TAISM, there is a profound commitment to nurturing a close-knit community, a sentiment echoed on t-shirts and hallways with the phrase, “You belong here.” This principle is personal to me, as it was the environment in which my own children were raised, within the broader context of peace and security in Oman. I am eager to work alongside our families, students, and staff as we continue to foster an atmosphere of lifelong learning.�
In addition to his leadership transition, TAISM is pleased to announce significant forthcoming developments. The construction of the new High School Science and Technology Center is in progress, with the facility set to include cutting-edge laboratories for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and a new Computer Science Lab. The center will feature collaborative and adaptable learning spaces designed to enhance educational experiences, with plans to inaugurate these areas towards the latter half of the school year.
