Success Secrets Of CBSE Toppers: Regular Studies And No Phones

MUSCAT: In a society often consumed by the allure of digital devices, the impressive accomplishment of Riti Mithesh Patel from Indian School Muscat (ISM) and Akshaya Alagappan from Indian School Al Maabela (ISAM), who both topped the CBSE class 10th board exams in Oman, sheds light on a different narrative.

Their exceptional success not only showcases their academic excellence but also highlights the importance of disciplined study routines and a deliberate avoidance of mobile phones. Reflecting on their journey to the top, Riti and Akshaya emphasized the significance of consistent effort and focused study habits.

Although they initially aimed for a respectable 98%, Riti's outstanding score of 98.8% and Akshaya's parallel achievement surpassed their own expectations.

Riti expressed her thoughts, stating, "I put in sincere efforts, but I anticipated a score of 98%. Achieving 98.8% is something I will cherish even more."

Akshaya, thrilled with her unexpected success, admitted, "I am truly delighted with my grades as I never expected to be the top scorer in Oman. My goal was to be the top scorer in my school, so being the top scorer in Oman is like the icing on the cake."

Their commitment to daily study schedules is evident, with Riti emphasizing the importance of quality study time and Akshaya dedicating two hours each day.

Riti mentioned, "The quality of time spent studying mattered more than the number of hours invested," echoing a sentiment shared by Akshaya, who advocated for regular study sessions as the key to success.

Their unique story stands out due to their deliberate choice to avoid using personal mobile phones until after completing their class 10th board exams.

Living in a world filled with digital distractions, Riti and Akshaya opted for a different route, viewing mobile phones as obstacles rather than tools for their academic goals.

Riti mentioned, "I only received my first personal mobile phone after finishing my class 10th board exams in April."

Similarly, Akshaya shared, "Having a mobile phone is definitely a distraction and a disadvantage. I got my first phone only after completing my board exams."

Their determination not only led them to success but also motivated their peers to rethink their own reliance on technology.

Riti stated, "The fact that I have stayed away from mobile phones has encouraged some of my friends to also limit their usage."

Riti's well-rounded approach, which involved regular gym visits even during exams, and Akshaya's preference for indoor activities like chess, emphasize the significance of overall development alongside academic pursuits.

Appreciative of the constant support from their families and teachers, both top achievers are excited to pursue their interests in higher education.

Riti's parents, Mitesh Patel and Algappan M, are professionals in their respective fields. Mitesh Patel is a senior chemical engineer with Worley, while Algappan M is a pharmacist with L&T, Oman. On the other hand, both Riti and Akshaya's mothers are homemakers.

Riti, who aspires to become a doctor and has a keen interest in research or bioengineering, expresses her gratitude towards her parents and teachers for believing in her. She looks forward to achieving her goals and gives a special mention to Ms Jisha ma'am, their social sciences teacher, who has been a motherly figure and a constant support for her.

To celebrate her milestone achievement, Riti celebrates with her friends and later with her parents. Her mother prepares her favorite Indian dish, Pav Bhaji, followed by a delightful pizza party.

Meanwhile, Akshaya's mother prepares sweets and distributes them to friends. Akshaya mentions that further celebrations are planned over the weekend, with a sumptuous lunch at their favorite restaurant being the most likely option.

Akshaya, with dreams of pursuing robotics and excelling in India's IIT JEE competition, acknowledges the invaluable guidance of her schoolteachers and parents.

As Riti and Akshaya celebrate their remarkable achievements, they offer wise advice to their juniors, emphasizing the importance of open communication with parents and a dedicated approach to academic pursuits.

Their stories serve as inspiring examples of how discipline, determination, and a mindful approach to technology can lead to academic excellence.
