State Council, Shura Council Hold Joint Session To Discuss Disputed Articles In Draft Laws

Muscat: The State Council and the Shura Council convened today to discuss reports submitted by their respective committees on disputed articles. The articles in question were part of the draft bills for the "Bank Deposits Protection Law", "The Law Regulating Trade in Wildlife", and "The Media Law."

According to Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, the joint session was held in accordance with Article (49) of the Law of the Council of Oman.

Khalid Ahmed Al Saadi, Secretary-General of the State Council, informed Oman News Agency (ONA) that the "Joint Committee" achieved full consensus on the draft bill of the "Bank Deposits Protection Law", passing 11 articles without objection from either council.

He also stated that the members of both councils voted in favor of the Joint Committee's opinion on the draft bill of "The Law Regulating Trade in Wildlife" by a 90 percent majority.

Regarding the draft bill on "The Media Law", Al Saadi confirmed that areas of dispute were resolved, and the two sides reached 100 percent consensus in favor of the Joint Committee's opinion.

Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council, reported to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the Joint Committee of the two councils discussed the disputed articles during the session and reached a consensus after elaboration and voting by the members of both councils.
