Muscat: There is only one week until the Oman Kite Festival 2025 kicks off in Barr Al Hikman. Starting on July 15th and lasting until July 24th, the festival promises an exciting combination of world-class kitesurfing competition, cultural immersion, and family-friendly entertainment, all set against the beautiful scenery of Oman's coastline.
The Oman Kite Festival, organized by Omran Group in conjunction with Oman Sail, intends to promote important coastal destinations as top international locations for adventure and sports tourism. Building on the tremendous success of last year's Oman Downwinder, the Oman Kite Festival 2025 has been enlarged in both geographic scope and duration, attracting a bigger number of foreign competitors and providing a richer, more varied experience for all participants.
Abdulhafidh AlHarthi, Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) Assets Manager Experiences, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating that the Oman Kite Festival 2025 is a key part of the Group's commitment to highlighting Oman's exceptional natural assets and expanding tourism offerings.
At the festival's heart is the multistage Downwinder race, an exhilarating expedition that will take you through some of Oman's most beautiful coastal regions. Kitesurfers will go through four hard phases from Barr Al Hikman to Masirah Island on July 16th, Masirah Island to Ras Al Ruwais on July 20th, Pink Lagoons to Al Ashkharah on July 21st, and finally from Ras Al Jinz to Ras Al Hadd on July 23rd.
Beyond the Downwinder, the festival features a vibrant schedule of supporting contests, such as the Kite Course Race in Barr Al Hikman on July 15, the Big Air Show and Freestyle Show on Masirah Island on July 17 and 18, respectively, the Coastal Race in Masirah Island on July 19, and the Slalom Race at Ras Al Hadd Lake on July 24—promising an action-packed experience for both participants and spectators.
Aside from water activities, the Oman Kite Festival aims to provide a complete cultural and leisure experience. Visitors can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, as well as a dynamic SME exhibition displaying local businesses and Omani traditions, at Ashkharah Municipal Park.
