Sizzling Summer: Temperature To Soon Hit 50 Degrees In Oman

The Oman Meteorology department has issued a statement indicating that temperatures in Muscat may soar up to 50 degrees Celsius starting from Monday, July 1, 2024, and continuing for the next 48 hours in the Sultanate of Oman.

The statement mentioned that there is a forecast of a significant increase in temperatures from today until Wednesday, July 1-3, 2024, with temperatures ranging from the late forties to the fifties, particularly in desert areas and some coastal regions along the Sea of Oman.

Given the high temperatures, it is crucial to be aware of the risks of sunstroke, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses. This is especially important for individuals whose work or activities require prolonged exposure to sunlight and high temperatures.

To prevent sunstroke and heat-related illnesses, it is recommended to:

1. Schedule working hours to include breaks during peak temperature periods
2. Minimize direct exposure to sunlight, especially in the afternoon
3. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to prevent dehydration
4. Provide training for workers and supervisors on how to respond to high-temperature conditions.
