Muscat: On Wednesday, Taher Mebkhout Al-Janibi, Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, welcomed a delegation from the National Defence University of the Republic of Türkiye during their visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The purpose of their visit to the Council was to gain insights into its legislative functions and responsibilities.
The meeting highlighted the longstanding historical ties between the two nations across various sectors. Discussions included the evolution of the Shura Council, its functions, and the authorities conferred upon it by the Basic Law of the State and the Oman Council Law.
The dialogue also addressed the legislative process concerning bills submitted to the Council, as well as those initiated by the Council itself. His Excellency elaborated on the oversight mechanisms available to Shura Council members and the operational frameworks established in line with the Oman Council Law.
He emphasized the Council’s significant role in national decision-making and its contributions toward realizing the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Additionally, the delegation received an overview of the operational procedures of the Council’s permanent committees, the structure of regular sessions, and the General Secretariat's role in providing essential technical support to Council members.
As part of their visit, the delegation was introduced to the advanced technologies utilized in the Council’s deliberation hall, where regular sessions take place, and they also toured other facilities, including the Oman Council Library.
The meeting was attended by several Council members, including Khalid Sultan Al-Jabri, Mohammed Salem Al-Sulaimani, and Ahmed bin Said Al-Balushi.
