Muscat: Today marked the opening ceremony of the 34th edition of the Global Technology Exhibition "COMEX 2025," held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
This event showcases the latest technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, developments in the space industry, digital transformation, and contemporary innovations, along with groundbreaking solutions across various sectors.
During the opening ceremony of COMEX 2025, new agreements totaling OMR 42 million were signed, focusing on digital transformation. Additionally, government institutions launched several electronic platforms and applications, including the National Platform for Suggestions, Complaints, and Reports (Tajawab).
His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology stated: "The digital economy is expected to contribute 10 percent to the targeted GDP by 2040."
His Excellency further noted: "The Sultanate of Oman is experiencing significant growth in the digital investment sector, with the total value of agreements signed at COMEX 2024 reaching around OMR 200 million, while Omani technology companies signed agreements worth approximately OMR 40 million at the LEAP 2025 conference in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
His Excellency also reviewed a series of technical projects that will be introduced as part of the activities for "COMEX 2025," most notably:
• 30 new services in the unified portal for digital services
• A new mobile phone application and smart assistant
• The national portal for open data
• "Thiqa" services for digital certification
• The Omani language model "Ma'een"
