Proposal To Establish A Centre For Artificial Intelligence In Oman

Salalah: The fourth symposium focused on security and safety in vital facilities wrapped up on Saturday in Salalah, after three days filled with scientific presentations and practical experiences.

Over 30 experts and participants from the Sultanate of Oman, Gulf and Arab nations, as well as Europe, took part in the symposium, sharing working papers that addressed all facets of security and safety.

This symposium, which has established itself as a prestigious annual scientific forum, united global and local intellects under one roof, engaging in discussions on specialized papers from prominent think tanks and academic institutions.

The event not only tackled challenges but also offered solutions and highlighted future trends.

At the event's conclusion, Brigadier General Eng. Saeed bin Suleiman Al-Asimi, Chairman of the organizing committee, remarked: “The scientific approach in this edition was bold and straightforward, and the papers presented were notable for their diversity in topics and methodologies. The symposium achieved a significant advancement, reinforcing its status as a vital platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences in security and safety.”

Al-Asimi further stated: “The fourth symposium showcased that the Sultanate of Oman is capable of hosting global minds and experiences, and that it is ready to become an advanced regional hub for facility safety, and potentially for artificial intelligence safety as well.”

The key recommendations and proposals that arose from the symposium include: the establishment of a regional center for artificial intelligence in the Sultanate of Oman, in light of the new security challenges presented by technology; promoting the idea of community resilience as the primary line of defense, which is a national necessity rather than a choice; developing early warning systems in smart cities; enhancing integration among relevant authorities; implementing advanced systems to safeguard documents and archives as the foundation of corporate governance; and utilizing virtual exercises and realistic simulations to train emergency teams within critical facilities.
