Sayyid Badr Leads Oman’s Delegation To Cairo Summit

Muscat: Following the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi led Oman’s delegation at the Extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo, Egypt.

In his address, Sayyid Badr conveyed the greetings of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the leaders in attendance, expressing profound gratitude to Egypt, the State of Palestine, and the Kingdom of Bahrain for their efforts in organizing this significant Arab gathering.

The Foreign Minister emphasized Oman’s firm rejection of any calls for the displacement of Gaza Strip residents under the guise of “reconstruction,” deeming such actions a crime against humanity as per international law.

He highlighted that the ongoing Israeli conflict has unveiled a “dark chapter in the history of humanity,” marked by the loss of tens of thousands of lives, numerous injuries, and many missing persons, alongside extensive destruction of infrastructure and essential services in Gaza.

He further noted that Israel persistently breaches ceasefire agreements, obstructing humanitarian aid delivery and continuing to kill and displace civilians in both Gaza and the West Bank, while also seizing land and detaining Palestinians in numbers greater than those released.

He remarked that a year has elapsed since the International Court of Justice called for all possible measures to prevent these atrocities, yet there has been no genuine commitment from the occupying forces.

He underscored the urgent need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the unconditional and unrestricted entry of relief and humanitarian supplies into the region.
