Sayyid Badr Discusses Gaza Strip With Swiss Envoy To Middle East And North Africa

Muscat: On Monday, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, welcomed Ambassador Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart, the Swiss Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa, to his office. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and explore opportunities for collaboration in the economic, trade, and cultural sectors. Emphasizing the significance of implementing the agreements and Memorandums of Understanding signed between the two countries during President Dr. Alain Berset's visit to Oman in November 2023, the meeting aimed to strengthen the existing ties.

Furthermore, the two sides exchanged perspectives on regional and international developments, with a particular focus on the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. They stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, as well as the importance of facilitating the flow of essential relief supplies and vital resources to the affected population by opening the crossings. Both parties expressed their belief that these actions would help de-escalate the conflict, prevent its further spread in the region, and support initiatives towards achieving a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

Several officials from both sides were present at the meeting.
