Muscat: The beginning of December 2024 was marked by a remarkable event at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM), which hosted an impressive lineup of artists for a weekend filled with artistic excellence. The highlight was Gaetano Donizetti’s cherished opera, La Fille du Régiment, alongside an electrifying Piano Duel featuring two globally acclaimed virtuosos.
ROHM showcased La Fille du Régiment, Donizetti’s renowned opera, captivating audiences who filled the venue in eager anticipation of this classic work. Under the direction of Jean-Louis Grinda, the production boasted a stellar cast, including Jessica Pratt, Veronica Simeoni, Antonino Siragusa, and Omar Montanari, with the La Corelli Orchestra skillfully conducted by the esteemed Antonello Allemandi.
Additionally, ROHM introduced The Piano Duel, a unique initiative that brought together award-winning pianists Nikolai Kuznetsov and Aristo Sham for an extraordinary concert experience.
In a historic first, ROHM allowed the audience to vote for their favorite performance of the evening, celebrating the remarkable talents of both internationally recognized artists. The concert featured significant works from the piano repertoire, including Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1. This event was part of the Emerging Talents series, which aims to highlight a range of up-and-coming artists on the ROHM stage in the coming months.

December will feature a series of captivating performances at ROHM, showcasing two remarkable events: the Desert Bridges concert and Sword of Wisdom. The Desert Bridges concert, taking place on Thursday, 12 December at the Royal Opera House of Musical Arts, will highlight the artistic talents of Oman and Switzerland, celebrating the universal language of music. Admission to this event is complimentary.
On 19 and 20 December, audiences will be treated to Sword of Wisdom, a stunning production by Taiwan’s U-Theatre. This performance is designed for family audiences and combines drumming, martial arts, and acrobatics to tell the inspiring story of the ‘Brave One’ as he confronts his fears and discovers his inner strength.
Additionally, ROHM will host an Open House on 21 December themed around a World of Fairy Tales, inviting families to experience the enchantment of beloved stories brought to life. Furthermore, a Let’s Read storytelling session will take place on 14 December in ROHM’s Music Library, focusing on One Thousand a
