Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, is hosting a two-day educational conference for senior supervisors across various academic disciplines.
The inaugural ceremony of this annual gathering was graced by the presence of Saif Al-Julandani, the Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision.
This conference is designed to accommodate over 240 participants, including supervisors from the Ministry’s General Diwan and educational directorates across the governorates.
The impetus behind this event stems from the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision’s commitment to providing professional support to supervisory categories, particularly senior supervisors, and to keep abreast of the swift advancements in the educational sector, including educational supervision. Furthermore, it aims to achieve the objectives outlined in the Directorate’s five-year plan, which encompasses the activation of educational supervision teams, highlighting the significance of senior supervisors within this framework.
The conference commenced with a training session led by an expert in educational training from the Queen Rania Training Academy. This session focused on support methodologies in supervisory practices, including both directed and non-directed control practices.
The primary objective of this training session is to clarify the concepts of supervisory practices, educational support, and to establish models for each practice, tailored to the nature of the teacher, the context, and the teacher’s prior knowledge.
The second day of the conference featured specialized meetings for each subject, attended by senior supervisors from educational directorates. These meetings were facilitated by specialists from various departments, including curriculum development, evaluation, and training. The discussions covered a range of topics related to supervision, alongside an update on the latest developments in evaluation and curriculum. Additionally, observations made in these areas were discussed to identify practical solutions.
A compilation of training working papers was also unveiled. During the latter part of the day, Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, engaged in a dialogue session with the participants. This session was aimed at exchanging observations, providing guidance, and offering visions that could assist senior supervisors in enhancing their technical work within educational directorates across the governorates.
The overarching goal of this conference is to bolster the capabilities and skills of senior supervisors, enabling them to develop effective supervisory work plans, monitor their implementation, assess their impact, share experiences, skills, and development ideas to improve the work environment, facilitate the execution of their roles and responsibilities, and foster a positive work culture and collaboration within teams to elevate supervisory performance.
