Programmes And Plans Of UNESCO Associated Schools Reviewed

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, under the representation of the Ministry of Education and the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, has participated in the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors for the International Centre for UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ICUA).

This significant event is scheduled to take place from the 13th to the 21st of September, 2024, in the Hainan Province, Republic of China.

The proceedings of the meeting were presided over by Xie Jing, the Vice Governor of Hainan Province, during which the administrative and organizational framework of the center was formally approved.

The center, classified as a Category II center, is affiliated with UNESCO. The Board of Directors deliberated on several critical issues, including international partnerships, the approval of the center’s annual plans and programs for the fiscal years 2024-2025, the organization’s structure, the budget for the year 2025, recommendations from governmental institutions, and regional and international organizations with which the center collaborates. Additionally, the board discussed the implementation of various seminars and the organization of visits to Chinese schools affiliated with UNESCO, aimed at reviewing their educational programs, as well as visits to heritage sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Oman is represented at this meeting by Yusriya Al Harthi, the Director of the UNESCO Associated Schools, Youth Programs and UNESCO Clubs Department, and a member of the Board of Directors.
