Georgetown: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions with Suriname's President Chandrikapersad 'Chan' Santokhi, amidst the proceedings of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown. The leaders reviewed the advancements made in their bilateral partnership and explored avenues for further cooperation across various sectors.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, reported, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with President Chandrikapersad 'Chan' Santokhi of Suriname on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown. During this dialogue, both leaders assessed the progress of their partnership and underscored the significance of bolstering economic ties. They agreed to expand their cooperation in multiple areas, including defense and security, trade and commerce, agriculture, digital initiatives such as UPI, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), healthcare, traditional medicine, pharmaceuticals, capacity building, human resource development, and cultural and people-to-people engagements."
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, on the same day in Georgetown, during the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit. The two leaders deliberated on key areas of cooperation, as reported by an official from the Ministry of External Affairs.
During their meeting, Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Mitchell for the successful execution of the summit. The dialogue centered on development cooperation in sectors such as education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), healthcare, food security, cricket, capacity building, and sustainable development.

The discussions focused on development cooperation in various areas, including education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), healthcare, food security, cricket, capacity building, and sustainable development."
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi engaged in bilateral talks with Antigua and Barbuda's Prime Minister Gaston Browne in Georgetown, concluding the final segment of his three-nation tour.
The Ministry of External Affairs on X announced, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda on the margins of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit today. Prime Minister Modi congratulated Prime Minister Browne on the successful conduct of the summit. The dialogue covered a range of topics, including trade and investment, capacity building for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and climate change action. Prime Minister Browne expressed his support for India's candidacy for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council."
Earlier in the summit, Prime Minister Modi had a meeting with Prime Minister Keith Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago. In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi shared that the two leaders discussed strategies for diversifying trade linkages between their countries. Prime Minister Modi also commended Prime Minister Rowley for adopting the UPI platform and welcomed the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on agro-food processing.
"We had a highly productive meeting with Prime Minister Keith Rowley of Trinidad and Tobago. Our discussions focused on strategies to diversify trade connections between our countries. Sectors such as science, healthcare, education, renewable energy, and agriculture present significant opportunities for collaboration. It is with great pleasure that we note Trinidad and Tobago's adoption of UPI. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning agriculture and food processing is also a positive development," Prime Minister Modi stated.
