Manila: A tragic incident unfolded in the heart of Binondo, Manila, Philippines, as a fire claimed the lives of at least 11 individuals, as reported by the Manila-based Daily Tribune.
The initial report from the Manila Bureau of Fire Protection indicates that the conflagration began at 7:20 a.m. local time, originating from a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) leak at a canteen situated on the fourth floor of a structure along Carvajal Street, as detailed by the Daily Tribune.
The fire was successfully extinguished at 10:04 a.m. local time. Kagawad Nelson Ty of Barangay 289 confirmed that 11 victims were trapped within the building.
In response to the calamity, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna has taken swift action by mobilizing the Manila Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) to support the affected families. This includes providing both psycho-social medical assistance and financial aid, as reported by the Daily Tribune.
