‘Passports Of Pakistanis Deported From Oman, GCC To Be Cancelled’

Muscat: Pakistani nationals deported from Oman and other nations will have their passports canceled upon arrival, according to a high official of the Pakistan government.

In order to address a rising problem that officials believe is harming Pakistan's global reputation, the government has opted to take strong action against its citizens who are deported from other nations for illegal activities, including canceling their passports and filing criminal accusations.

This statement came after a meeting of Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, presided over by federal interior minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Pakistan's ambassador to Oman, Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari, told the Times of Oman that this was a move to curb unlawful migration and guarantee that legitimate immigrants and job seekers visit Oman. This will also guarantee that anyone who is arrested for breaking the law in Oman and deported will be unable to return to the nation. This decision demonstrates Pakistan's eagerness to take harsh action to combat illegal immigration. This effort will help to guarantee that legitimate mechanisms for promoting employment for Pakistani nationals in Oman are reinforced.

According to the Pakistan government, the names of the deported foreigners would be added to the passport control list for five years, limiting their ability to travel overseas. This decision was made following the expulsion of a significant number of individuals from Gulf and European countries for unlawful stays and working unlawfully.

Millions of Pakistanis live and work in foreign countries, most notably in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Europe, the United States, Australia, Malaysia, and other countries.

At the end of April 2025, the NCSI in Oman reported that there were 318,208 Pakistani expats in Oman.
