Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman witnessed a significant increase in vehicle registrations during the initial six months of 2024, with the total count reaching approximately 1,704,873 vehicles. Among these, private licensing accounted for 79.6 percent, with a corresponding number of 1,356,636 vehicles.
The predominant engine capacity for these vehicles spanned between 1,500 and 3,000 cc, representing 54.3 percent of the total, with a corresponding count of 925,144 vehicles.
In terms of color, white vehicles were the most common, accounting for 42.6 percent of the total, with 726,558 vehicles falling into this category.
A notable segment of the registered vehicles was those that were commercially licensed, making up 14.6 percent of the total, with a count of 248,426 vehicles. Additionally, the rental vehicle segment stood at 36,312 vehicles, representing 2.1 percent of the total, and the taxi vehicle segment accounted for 28,093 vehicles, representing 1.6 percent.
Regarding vehicle weights, the majority of vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of the first half of 2024 were those weighing less than 3 tons, with a count of 1,545,977 vehicles, which accounted for 90.7 percent of the total registered vehicles.
