Over 811,000 Students Across Oman Embark On New Academic Year With Determination

Muscat: As the academic year 2024/2025 commenced, a total of 811,679 students, comprising 409,122 boys and 402,557 girls, have resumed their educational pursuits across the Sultanate of Oman. These students are distributed among various educational directorates throughout the nation, characterized by a palpable sense of determination and optimism for the forthcoming academic year.

The enrollment breakdown by grade level reveals that 307,765 students are currently in grades 1-4, with an equal distribution of 155,449 boys and 152,316 girls. Moving up to grades 5-8, there is a total of 275,953 students, mirroring a similar gender distribution with 138,621 boys and 137,332 girls. In the higher grades, grades 9-12, the student body has grown to 227,961, with a slightly higher enrollment of boys at 115,052 and girls at 112,909. Additionally, there is a notable influx of 74,078 students into the first grade, alongside 2,080 students who have enrolled in specialized education programs.

These students are dispersed across 1,287 educational institutions within the Sultanate. The distribution of these institutions is as follows: 359 schools cater to grades 1-4, 328 schools serve grades 5-9, 53 schools are designated for grades 9-12, 77 schools offer programs for grades 10-12, 20 schools cater to grades 11-12, and 450 schools provide continuous education across multiple grade levels. Moreover, 127 schools will operate during the evening hours, and 23 new schools have been established to meet the growing demand for educational services.

As these students embark on their academic journey, the educational sector in Oman is evolving and adapting, ensuring that each student is afforded access to quality education in an environment that fosters their academic and personal development.
