Over 14,000 Omani Citizens Employed In Public, Private Sectors In 2024

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour within the Sultanate of Oman has reported notable advancements in its employment strategy for the initial six months of 2024.

A comprehensive total of 14,074 Omani nationals have successfully secured positions across both the public and private sectors.

The Ministry of Labour has disclosed that, during the period spanning January to June 2024, a cumulative total of 30,394 individuals, representing over 50%, have obtained their first employment.

The ministry's objective is to place 10,000 job seekers within the public sector, of which 6,963 positions have been fulfilled. Similarly, it aims to place 16 individuals in the private sector, achieving 7,111 placements.

Regarding employment-related training, the total number of trainees has increased to 1,412, with a completion rate of 16%. This includes 305 trainees in the public sector and 1,107 in the private sector during the initial half of the year. The ministry's goal is to accommodate 2,000 trainees in the public sector and 7,000 in the private sector throughout the year.

The Ministry of Labour is diligently preparing individuals to enhance their employability. It has stated its ambition to employ and train 35,000 job seekers for the year, with 15,486 positions and training opportunities linked to employment successfully completed, achieving a completion rate of 44.25%.
