Over 130 Commercial Establishments Seized For Non-Compliance With Electronic Payment System

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion, through its Inspection Department, conducted multiple inspection campaigns on shops and filling stations in preparation for the Khareef Dhofar 2024 season. The purpose of these campaigns was to demonstrate the ministry's dedication to delivering high-quality services to consumers and to evaluate the adherence of commercial and service establishments to the Ministry's regulations. As a result of these efforts, 131 commercial establishments were found to be in violation for not having electronic payment devices, as required by Ministry regulations to facilitate consumer transactions.

The Inspection Department of the Ministry visited and assessed the service standards at various fuel stations located along the Adam-Haima-Thumrait line, Mahout Salalah Road, and in Dhofar Governorate. A total of 59 gas stations were inspected, resulting in 10 stations receiving warnings for not meeting the standards and requirements set by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion. These routine inspections confirm the commitment to upholding approved standards, service levels, and the provision of essential requirements at these stations.

The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to ongoing inspection campaigns to ensure compliance with Ministerial Resolution No. 386/2022, which mandates electronic payment services across different commercial activities. Additionally, the Ministry will continue to monitor gas stations to guarantee the delivery of efficient and high-quality services to consumers.
