Muscat: The Ministry of Education convened a ceremony to pay tribute to the distinguished students of the General Education Diploma for the academic year 2023/2024. This event was graced by the presence of Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, alongside Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, alongside other ministers and members of the State Council, Undersecretaries, educators, and the parents of the recipients of this honor.
The ceremony took place at the prestigious Grand Events Hall within the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
The event featured a speech by the Ministry, delivered by Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education. In his address, he stated, “This ceremony serves to honor the distinguished students of the General Education Diploma, as well as those at equivalent levels and international qualifications across the Sultanate of Oman for the academic year 2023/2024. Today, it is our solemn duty to congratulate and celebrate their achievements, which have rightfully earned them this recognition.”
He underscored the importance of “one of the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 is to fortify the national partnership between the government sector and the private sector, aiming to collectively contribute to the development of our nation and the well-being of its generations. This ceremony today exemplifies the commitment to this partnership and the successful outcomes it has yielded, as it is supported by the Occidental Oman Company, a testament to the strength of this collaboration.”
He further added, “We urge our distinguished students who have successfully completed this milestone to continue their pursuit of excellence in their future educational endeavors. We also encourage them to channel their excellence towards endeavors that support our nation and its objectives. Our deepest expressions of gratitude and appreciation go out to all those who have contributed to the realization of this goal and to those who have persevered in their efforts, including parents, school administrations, teachers, and all those who have played a role in fostering this excellence.”
Nasser Al Maskari, Director of Social Responsibility at Occidental Oman, delivered a speech on behalf of the sponsoring company, highlighting the company's commitment to social responsibility and its focus on supporting education as a sustainable investment with a positive impact on future generations.
Our collaboration with the Ministry of Education stands as a longstanding alliance, further fortified through numerous community initiatives that have positively influenced society and directly aimed at enhancing the education system within the Sultanate.
Following this, students Abdul Aziz Al Zadjali from South Al Batinah Governorate and Elaf Al Darmaki from Muscat Governorate delivered a speech on behalf of their distinguished peers, stating, "This juncture heralds the commencement of a new era replete with challenges and accomplishments. We pledge to persist in our pursuit of knowledge, imbued with hope and ambition, to realize our aspirations and objectives, and to remain on the path of righteousness."
This moment signifies the culmination of years of perseverance and dedication, culminating in hearts overflowing with success that will be cherished throughout our lifetimes. We recall the day when we sowed the seeds of our endeavors, and today, we reap the fruits of our labor. Our commitment to realizing our dreams and objectives is unwavering, as we strive to fulfill the vision for our nation, a beacon for progress, advancement, and cultural excellence.
The ceremony of honor included a performance of the national anthem by students from the Directorate-General of Education in Muscat, alongside a visual presentation that showcased photographs and videos of various programs and initiatives, including the Chinese Language Bridge Programme, the Summer Programme for Learning German, and the French Language Programme.
As the ceremony concluded, the exceptional students were bestowed with honors by the Minister of Finance, who also provided patronage to the event, and commemorative photographs were captured.
