Muscat: The OQ Group has warmly welcomed the eleventh cohort of graduates into its Graduate Development Programme, which now includes 220 new employees. This expansion brings the cumulative total of graduates from the programme to 1,798.
This initiative underscores OQ's commitment to cultivating national talent as an integral component of its human capital investment strategy, thereby empowering the youth of Oman.
Engineer Ali Mohammed Al Lawati, who serves as the Chief People & Technology Officer at OQ, has emphasized the organization's dedication to nurturing local talent with the aim of empowering Omani youth and fostering employment opportunities across the various entities within the group.
He elaborated that the selection process for this latest batch of graduates was conducted with a high degree of rigor to identify the most promising candidates. These selected graduates will undergo a comprehensive training program across a range of sectors and departments, designed to enhance their skills and align them with roles that best suit their areas of expertise.
The program has been meticulously crafted to adhere to best practices, ensuring that graduates receive an exceptional learning and training experience that meets the organization's demand for skilled professionals.
Al Lawati pointed out that OQ, with an Omanization rate of 84% as of September 2024, not only supports local employment through direct hiring but also collaborates with contractors and suppliers to achieve Omanization targets. This strategy is in line with OQ's initiatives promoting local content.
In partnership with Takatuf Oman, scholarships were awarded to 128 students from both public and private educational institutions through the Oman Pioneers Scholarship Programme. This initiative is designed to assist outstanding students in pursuing higher education at leading international universities, thereby contributing to human development and guiding students in their academic journeys.
Between the years 2020 and 2024, OQ has provided training to over 2,785 interns, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to education and the development of talent. The group is actively involved in initiatives aimed at empowering Omani youth, in support of government-led localization policies.
