One Million Flowers From 20 Countries Bloom In Muscat Nights

Muscat: Visitors to the Muscat Flower Festival are immersed in a breathtaking display of vibrant flowers, as Qurum Natural Park is transformed into a stunning botanical exhibition filled with a rich tapestry of colors and fragrances.

With over one million flowers sourced from more than 20 countries, the festival showcases an impressive array of blooms from the USA, the Netherlands, Kenya, Malaysia, and South America, creating a distinctive fusion of nature and artistry.

Inaugurated on December 23, 2024, by Ahmed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, the festival is part of the ongoing Muscat Nights Festival and will run until January 21, 2025, offering attendees a remarkable exhibition of floral innovation.

This event represents the inaugural floral festival organized by Muscat Municipality. Hanan Al Shuraiqi, an engineer with the Landscaping and Parks Department and the festival supervisor, provided insights into the development of this unique event.

In 2023, the concept was revitalized and presented to Ahmed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, who received it with enthusiasm, paving the way for this year's event. To achieve exceptional designs, the municipality partnered with Pico Group from Singapore, renowned for their expertise in large-scale exhibitions.

"We issued tenders and chose Pico Group due to their extensive experience in this area," Hanan noted.

The floral arrangements, a joint effort by both international and Omani designers, feature contributions from Madhavi Khimji of Oman.

Barnabas Chia, Project Director of Pico Group, expressed his pride in participating in the festival.

"We are privileged to curate and produce this distinctive showcase in Muscat, which celebrates the city's natural beauty and vibrant community. This event would not have been possible without the support of local and international partners, skilled designers, and a committed team. We aspire for the festival to become a beloved tradition and a significant highlight of the Muscat Nights calendar," he stated.

In addition to its visual appeal, the festival promotes community involvement by engaging 50 local SMEs that specialize in floral arrangements. This initiative underscores the Municipality's commitment to creating opportunities for local businesses while enhancing the event's overall impact.

Reflecting on the festival's cultural importance, Madhavi Khimji highlighted its ties to Oman’s identity. "The Muscat Flower Festival embodies the spirit of the Sultanate of Oman and celebrates its rich hospitality," she remarked.
