Oman’s Amna Al Rasbi wins bronze at Seoul International Invention Fair

Muscat: Amna Al Rasbi, a young engineer hailing from Oman, has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing a bronze medal at the esteemed Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF) 2023.

Renowned as a platform for groundbreaking innovations, this global event brings together the brightest minds and industry leaders to showcase visionary concepts and pioneering products to a wide range of stakeholders, including manufacturers, investors, distributors, licensing firms, and the general public.

Handpicked as the representative of Oman by the GCC Patent Office, Amna stood out among 484 inventions presented by 26 countries, earning well-deserved recognition for her innovative creation. Titled "Sustainable organic pollutant removal in refinery wastewater using nanoparticles," her invention exemplifies a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, aligning with Oman Vision 2040.

This remarkable achievement adds to Amna's list of previous accolades, which include the Thailand Award for the Best International Invention and Innovation from the National Research Council of Thailand, as well as the GCC Patent Office Award.

Amna expressed her thoughts on the achievement, stating that this invention goes beyond just wastewater treatment. She believes it sets a precedent in environmental technology and aligns with Oman's vision for a sustainable future.

She expressed her gratitude for the support and opportunities that led to this moment. She believes that this achievement highlights the power of innovation and determination. Established in 2002, SIIF was created to promote and market inventions. It is currently supported by the City of Seoul, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the International Federation of Inventors' Associations. Over the years, it has become a premier event that brings together inventors and researchers from around the world to showcase groundbreaking ideas and products to a global audience.
