Oman’s Airports Handle Over 4.7 Million Passengers Till April

Muscat: By the end of April 2025, a total of 4,701,055 people had traveled through Oman’s airports, a 4. 1% decrease from the same period in 2024, when 4,901,855 passengers had been recorded.

Preliminary figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that Muscat International Airport served 4,222,789 passengers by the end of April 2025, a decrease of 4. 7% from 4,428,726 passengers in the same period in 2024. The total number of flights decreased by 8. 6%, reaching 29,731 compared to 32,520 the previous year.

Meanwhile, Salalah Airport experienced a 6. 8% increase in passenger traffic, totaling 458,394 passengers by the end of April 2025, up from 429,181 passengers in the same timeframe last year. However, overall flights at the airport fell marginally by 0. 2%, with 2,974 compared to 2,980 in April 2024.

Sohar Airport experienced a significant decline in flight operations, with a 62. 5% reduction in flights (72 compared to 192 in April 2024). Passenger numbers fell by 98. 7%, with just 307 passengers compared to 23,842 in the same time last year.

Similarly, Duqm Airport saw a 1. 9% decrease in flights, with a total of 204 by the end of April 2025, down from 208 in April 2024. Passenger traffic decreased by 2. 7%, to 19,565 compared to 20,106 the previous year.

Indian travelers were the most frequent nationality at Muscat International Airport, with a total of 182,628 passengers in April 2025, including 99,163 arrivals and 83,465 departures. Omani nationals ranked second, with 101,087 passengers (45,072 arrivals and 56,015 departures), followed by Pakistani travelers with 47,078 passengers (25,426 arrivals and 21,652 departures).
