Omani Firm Sets Up Centre To Develop Drones And Robots

Muscat: Ankaa Space and Technology, an Omani enterprise registered with the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED), has initiated the establishment of the first center dedicated to the development of drones and robots aimed at enhancing agriculture, housing, and urban planning.

Additionally, the company is creating an urban observatory platform, which is recognized as the first of its kind in the Middle East.

Mohammed Salim Al Riyami, CEO of Ankaa Space and Technology, stated, “To implement its initiatives, the company collaborates with several government bodies and private organizations, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, as well as the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.”

He further mentioned that the company partners with NASA to facilitate field visits for Omani students and collaborates with OQ to engage in advanced research in robotics. These activities encompass programming drones and developing artificial intelligence (AI) applications to benefit various sectors, he elaborated.
