Muscat: As the year 2023 draws to a close, Oman's Sultanate has seen a significant increase in the number of fish processing factories, now standing at 114. These establishments are instrumental in fostering sustainable development, diversifying the economy, and promoting innovation within the fish sector, all in alignment with the objectives outlined in the Oman Vision 2040 blueprint.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources has reported impressive advancements within the fish industry, which is recognized as a foundational sector in the realm of fish resource management and its pivotal role in achieving food security and sustainable utilization of marine resources.

Furthermore, the Ministry has announced that 81 factories have achieved a breakthrough by securing fish quality control and export certificates. These certificates play a crucial role in ensuring that the fish products manufactured meet international standards concerning their quality and safety, thereby enhancing the export potential of these products to international markets.

Additionally, the Ministry highlighted the diverse nature of fish manufacturing activities within Oman. These activities encompass a range of projects focused on processing, packaging, and freezing fish fillets, canning fish, and the production of a variety of food products derived from aquatic resources, including fish burgers and fish fingers, among others, catering to both local and international consumer demands for fish-based products.
