Due to the prevailing weather conditions, evening classes in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate's schools will be temporarily suspended and transitioned to distance education on Tuesday, April 24, 2024. This decision has been made in light of the Oman Meteorology's Report No. (1) and the Ministry's statement regarding the expected weather conditions from April 23-25, 2024. The safety of our students and educational staff is of utmost importance, and therefore, the Directorate General of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has outlined the following measures:
1. Morning schools will continue with in-person classes until 12 pm.
2. Classes in evening schools will be suspended and shifted to the distance education system.
3. School administrations situated near valley streams and reefs in the governorate are advised to exercise caution and implement necessary safety measures for the well-being of students and educational staff.
Similarly, the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate has provided guidelines for schools in the region:
1. School administrations must stay updated on the latest weather developments and take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of students and school staff, considering the nature of tributaries in coordination with the school's administrative supervisor.
2. In the event of rain while students are present at school, they should not be allowed to leave until the weather stabilizes and the flow of traffic to the tributaries is ensured.
3. School bus drivers are reminded to prioritize the safety of students and avoid taking unnecessary risks, ensuring their safe transportation to and from school.
4. Schools are encouraged to utilize available resources for distance learning if students are unable to attend school.
These measures have been put in place to safeguard the well-being of students and educational staff during the specified weather conditions.
The Ministry of Education announced on Monday, April 22, 2024 that due to the anticipated rainfall in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate from April 23 to 25, all schools in the region (governmental, private, and foreign) will suspend classes. Instead, remote learning will be implemented on Tuesday, April 24, 2024. As for the other northern governorates, the respective general directors have been granted the authority to assess the weather conditions and make appropriate decisions to ensure the safety of students and educational staff.
According to Report No.1 from Oman Meteorology regarding the weather conditions in the Sultanate of Oman, the National Early Warning Center's forecasts and analysis indicate that an air depression will affect the atmosphere of the country starting from Tuesday, April 23 until Thursday, April 25, 2024. This is expected to result in the formation of clouds and the possibility of scattered rain, varying in intensity and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms. Active downward winds and hail are also anticipated, which may lead to the overflow of reefs and valleys in the Governorates of Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, and Musandam.
