Oman's score of 95.95% in the compliance index is a remarkable improvement from the 60.47% achieved in 2020. The International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Global Aviation Safety Oversight Audit Program plays a crucial role in assessing member states' compliance with aviation safety standards. On a regional level, Oman secured the top spot within the GCC and globally ranked 11th in airworthiness, attaining an impressive score of 99% compared to 79% in the previous year. This success reflects a steadfast commitment to developing and implementing airworthiness standards effectively to guarantee the safety of both aircraft and passengers.
Furthermore, the compliance rate in aviation navigation safety surged from 50% to 97.27%, thanks to enhancements in surveillance and monitoring procedures to uphold navigation safety and comply with international standards. This outstanding performance positioned Oman as the regional and GCC leader and the 8th globally in this category.
Significant advancements were also observed in aviation licenses, with the compliance rate soaring from 52.38% to 96.43% following comprehensive enhancements in the issuance procedures for licenses, permits, and approvals to ensure alignment with international standards. As a result, Oman ranked 27th globally and 2nd regionally and within the GCC in this domain.
Oman secured the 3rd position regionally, 2nd within the GCC, and 24th globally in airport safety. The compliance rate surged from 55.28% to 90.91% due to enhanced safety procedures at airports in Oman. This accomplishment positioned Oman 24th globally in airport safety.
Furthermore, in the realm of aviation accidents and incidents overseen by the Transport Safety Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, Oman ranked 4th globally, 2nd regionally, and within the GCC. The compliance rate escalated from 48.61% to 96.3% through collaborative efforts among various entities to bolster Oman's capabilities in investigating aviation accidents and incidents and refining related protocols.
During the conference, Engineer Naif Ali Al Abri, the President of the Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed that the authority surpassed the targeted percentage (85%) outlined in the authority's goals and targets card for the compliance index of international aviation safety standards in 2023, achieving 95.95%. This milestone signifies the realization of Oman Vision 2040's objectives.
