Oman Participates In OIC Extraordinary Meeting In Jeddah

Oman took part in the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where the focus was on the ongoing Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories.

H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the Omani delegation, emphasized Oman's unwavering commitment to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, the repatriation of displaced individuals, and the facilitation of humanitarian aid across all regions of Gaza. He cautioned against any efforts to displace Palestinians or infringe upon their rights.

Additionally, H.E. reiterated Oman's backing for the initiatives of OIC member states aimed at countering Israeli aggression, highlighting the necessity for a robust international mechanism to halt violations, safeguard civilians, lift the blockade on Gaza, and ensure accountability for Israeli officials involved in criminal acts.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations of Cameroon and current Chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, and included participation from various foreign ministers.

Oman's delegation also featured H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbors Department, and Minister Plenipotentiary Salem bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi, Consul General of Oman and Deputy Permanent Representative to the OIC in Jeddah, along with other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi engaged in discussions with H.E. Dr. Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during the extraordinary OIC meeting held in Jeddah. Their conversation focused on the bilateral relations between their nations, exploring avenues to strengthen mutual cooperation, and sharing perspectives on the swiftly changing regional and international landscape. They underscored the significance of dialogue and diplomatic initiatives in seeking peaceful and equitable resolutions to various conflicts and disputes, aiming to foster security, stability, and peace for all parties involved.

Additionally, H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi held a meeting with H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to discuss and consult on a range of regional and international issues.

The two ministers addressed various facets of diplomatic collaboration between their countries, reaffirming their dedication to advancing economic and investment partnerships, as well as cultural and scientific cooperation initiatives.

The meetings were attended by several officials from both delegations.
