Kuwait: Today, the Sultanate of Oman participated in the ninth meeting of GCC Education Ministers, which took place in the State of Kuwait.
Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, led Oman's delegation.
The meeting addressed a variety of themes aimed at improving collaboration and integration among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) state ministries of education. The Gulf Strategy for Drug Control (2025-2028) was evaluated, which included various ideas for the development of educational and training programs in this area.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the establishment of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) to guarantee that it helps the work of education ministries and stays up with current and future educational changes.
In regards to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the conference agreed that ABEGS would include some of the national indicators that GCC education ministries are tracking into Goal 4 (Quality Education) reports to showcase the global contribution of GCC countries.
Furthermore, the meeting examined the GCC Scouts and Guides Committee's strategic plan for the years (2026-2030), which contains local and foreign scouting programs and activities. The group also discussed an ABEGS study on improving school children's financial literacy for practical application.
The meeting also discussed a number of programs proposed by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, including school sports, sports exchanges for talented students and excellent educators throughout the GCC, and overall strategic transformation in education.
