Oman, Mexico Celebrate 50 Years Of Diplomatic Relations

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the United Mexican States today celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them by unveiling a commemorative sign that represents the strong ties between the two friendly nations.

This happened during a ceremony at the Foreign Ministry in Muscat earlier today.

Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, praised the strong ties and collaboration between the two nations, adding that diplomatic relations began on July 31, 1985. He emphasised that this decision has helped to improve collaboration in a variety of sectors, including politics, economics, and culture.

He expressed Oman's desire to deepen friendly ties with Mexico in a variety of areas, highlighting the shared principles that bind the two countries and their common resolve to building a relationship based on respect and understanding.

On his turn, Aníbal Gómez Toledo, Mexico's Ambassador to Oman, emphasized the deep historical ties between Oman and Mexico, stating his government's desire to improve all parts that would take bilateral ties to new heights in all sectors.

He also complimented Oman's diplomatic attempts to address various regional and international challenges, as well as the country's constant dedication to fostering peace and stability in the area and bridging gaps between warring nations through dialogue, tolerance, and respect. He emphasized Oman's role as a model for mediation and peaceful conflict resolution.

He conveyed the Mexican government and people's great appreciation and gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman for its outstanding humanitarian efforts in securing the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader ship, particularly the Mexican nationals, allowing them to return to their families.

He agreed that commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries provides a great chance to set new and bold objectives aimed at improving collaboration, boosting commerce, encouraging tourism, and strengthening academic exchanges through university scholarships, joint scientific research projects, and other means.

Oman and Mexico jointly commemorated five decades of fruitful and amicable ties in a statement, emphasizing that regular political meetings, commercial and commercial exchanges, and cultural engagement had increased mutual understanding and strengthened collaboration.

The two countries renewed their commitment to strengthening and developing their bilateral ties, underlining their desire to improve cooperation based on common interests and to continue working together for the long-term benefit of their populations.

Several authorities from both Oman and Mexico attended the ceremony.
