Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman has officially become a member of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).
This milestone was achieved during a meeting on Wednesday, where Idris Abdul Rahman Al Khanjari, the Sultanate of Oman's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organisations in Geneva, engaged in discussions with Ismail Ersahin, the CEO and Executive Director of WAIPA.
The ceremony, hosted by the Permanent Mission of the Sultanate of Oman in Geneva, served as a platform for the exchange of ideas on how to enhance cooperation aimed at promoting investment within Oman and optimizing the utilization of WAIPA's services and partnerships. Additionally, the potential for Oman to host the 2025 World Investment Conference was explored during the event.
Al Khanjari expressed the significance of Oman's membership in WAIPA, emphasizing the country's efforts to modernize its foreign investment system. He further stated that the primary goal of Oman's affiliation with the Association and other economic organizations in Geneva is to facilitate the opening of Oman's market to international investors.
He also highlighted the unique investment landscape of Oman, underscoring its strategic location and proximity to major global markets, along with its superior infrastructure, including ports, free economic zones, and industrial zones, which positions Oman as an attractive investment destination.
Meanwhile, Ismail Ersahin, the Executive Director of WAIPA, outlined the Association's primary mission: to bolster the capabilities of its members, ensuring they attract high-quality investments to their nations and foster dialogue among Investment Promotion Agencies through the sharing of insights and best practices from both the public and private sectors.
