Oman Air Welcomes Eng. Hamood Al Alawi As Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Muscat: Oman Air has announced the appointment of Eng. Hamood Al Alawi as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. This strategic appointment is a key milestone in the airline's transformation journey and demonstrates its dedication to developing a robust pipeline of Omani aviation leaders. Hamood bin Musbah Al Alawi comes to Oman Air from Oman Airports Management Company, where he worked as Acting Chief Executive Officer and was instrumental in implementing the airport's own transformation programme.

Hamood Al Alawi holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, and she has more than two decades of extensive leadership experience in the government and commercial sectors, with a proven foundation in asset management, corporate transformation, and financial performance. He has held senior positions with Shell International in the Netherlands, spearheaded flagship cost efficiency projects for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), and served on the Executive Leadership Team at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, where he led a unit responsible for an OMR 1 billion strategic project.

In 2024, Hamood Al Alawi was recruited to oversee the Oman Airports Management Company transformation, during which the firm achieved a record financial performance, including the highest EBITDA since its inception, as well as a complete restructuring plan to improve efficiency and capacity. As Oman Air's Deputy CEO, he will be heavily involved in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the transformation, working closely with the CEO and senior leadership to facilitate change and achieve performance targets that ensure the airline's long-term commercial viability, financial sustainability, and operational excellence.
