New York: The Sultanate of Oman has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the alleviation of suffering among the Palestinian populace, calling for their full, sovereign rights, with the foremost being the right to live with dignity and the right to establish a sovereign state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This position was articulated by Dr. Mohammed Awadh Al Hassan, the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations (UN), prior to an international conference convened to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
During the conference, which was hosted at the UN headquarters in New York, Oman articulated that the plight of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip had reached a level of human indignity. It called on the international community to take swift action to enforce resolutions of international legitimacy and to safeguard the rights of the Palestinian populace.
"In the annals of the United Nations, we have never witnessed such a grave omission on the part of the international community in the face of such systematic and deliberate targeting of international relief personnel," Dr. Al Hassan noted.
