National Guideline For Medical, Surgical Sterilisation Launched

Musqat: On Monday, the Ministry of Health inaugurated the inaugural edition of the "National Guideline for Medical and Surgical Sterilisation". The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, the Minister of Health.

During the ceremony, a visual presentation was given to showcase the history of sterilisation in the Sultanate of Oman, its developmental stages, and the accomplishments made in this field.

Furthermore, the steps taken to train Omani healthcare workers in accordance with the latest international standards were highlighted.

Dr. Amal bint Saif Al-Maani, the Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at the Ministry of Health, emphasized the significance of sterilisation services for medical and surgical instruments used in healthcare institutions. She also stressed their effective role in safeguarding the well-being of all patients.

Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al-Quyoudi, the Director of the Prevention and Infection Control Department at the Ministry of Health, delivered a visual presentation on the key developmental stages of sterilisation services in the Sultanate of Oman. He also discussed the Ministry of Health's commitment to integrating sterilisation as a department within the Prevention and Infection Control Department. This integration aims to provide education and training to enhance the quality of services and ensure patient safety.

Dr. Al-Quyoudi further highlighted notable achievements, such as the initiation of a diploma program for sterilisation technicians in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour. The release of the National Guide for Medical and Surgical Sterilisation is also a crucial milestone in the Sultanate of Oman's sterilisation program.

Additionally, the head of the Sterilisation Services Department at the Ministry of Health conducted an interactive session utilizing artificial intelligence technology featuring a virtual character. This pioneering technology, developed for the first time in the Ministry of Health, serves as a research tool in the national directory for medical and surgical sterilisation.
