Muscat: In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), Muscat Municipality successfully organized a training course for pest management workers from May 18 to June 1, 2025.
This project is part of the Municipality's continued efforts to develop national competence in vector control and improve public health standards across the Governorate.
The program was created to teach the national workforce and field agents in pest control, in accordance with current international standards and best practices.
It used a broad strategy, integrating academic understanding with practical application.
It focused on pest identification, risk assessment, and the application of integrated, long-term, and environmentally appropriate control methods.
The effort included a series of scientific lectures and onsite seminars presented by renowned global specialists from the World Health Organization.
These sessions included skilled professionals from all regions of the Muscat Governorate, creating a dynamic and interesting training experience.

It allows us to implement world-class public health practices and improve the skills and capacities of our national workforce, which directly contributes to national efforts to reduce health risks and enhance quality of life.

Notably, this initiative represents a watershed moment in Muscat Municipality's aim to build an effective and sustainable pest management system that is consistent with public health goals and national priorities.
The municipality also committed to increasing collaboration with foreign organisations, promoting information exchange, and developing additional targeted training programs.
This method will eventually empower national talent and improve municipal services in accordance with the highest professional and scientific standards.
