Muscat: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Oman, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), organized the “Korea-Oman Renewable Energy Business Roundtable and KSP (Knowledge Sharing Programme) kick-off meeting” in Muscat on December 12.
This roundtable brought together over 70 officials, business leaders, and experts from both Korea and Oman, aimed at fostering collaboration in the renewable energy sector, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Salim Al Aufi, the Minister of Energy and Minerals of Oman, attended the meeting and delivered a keynote address on behalf of the Omani government.
Omani energy companies such as Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, HYDROM (Hydrogen Oman), and Oman LNG were represented at the event.
Korea's prominent energy organizations and companies, including the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI), Hyosung Heavy Industries, POSCO Holdings, GS Energy, Samsung E&C, and LS Cable & System, also participated.
Discussions focused on enhancing Korea-Oman collaboration across the renewable energy value chain, encompassing power generation, storage, and transportation, as well as developing technological solutions to improve renewable energy efficiency.
Additionally, the meeting marked the launch of Korea’s 2024-25 Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP) project with Oman, which aims to exchange experiences and best practices to enhance the reliability and efficiency of integrating renewable energy into the national power system.
KIM Kiejoo, the Ambassador of Korea to Oman, emphasized the significant opportunities for mutually advantageous cooperation in renewable energy between Korea and Oman. He expressed optimism that the collaboration between the two nations will continue to grow.
