Indian EAM Jaishankar Interacts With Members Of German Parliament, Discusses India's Commitment To Combat Terrorism

Berlin: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met with German parliamentarians on Thursday as part of his official trip to the country. The EAM addressed a wide range of issues, including India's unwavering commitment to battling terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

EAM applauded the backing of MPs for the expansion of India-Germany ties in a statement published on X.

He tweeted on X: "Good communication with members of the German Bundestag this evening in Berlin. " Appreciate their unwavering backing for the continued expansion of India-Germany ties. I also highlighted India's unwavering dedication to combating terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations.

Earlier in the day, EAM Jaishankar presided over a regional conference of Ambassadors in Europe, where he talked about Operation Sindoor and India's message of zero tolerance for terrorism.

EAM stated that they also talked about several aspects of deepening connections with Europe.

He posted on X, "Chaired the regional conference of our Ambassadors in Europe today in Berlin. " We talked about OpSindoor and our message of zero tolerance for terrorism. Also discussed numerous features of more deeply engaging Europe at a time of change.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 individuals. The Indian armed forces targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, killing over 100 militants connected with terrorist organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Following the attack, Pakistan retaliated with crossborder shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir, as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, prompting India to launch a coordinated attack that destroyed radar infrastructure, communication centers, and airfields across 11 Pakistani airbases.

Following this, on May 10, an agreement on the end of hostilities between India and Pakistan was revealed.

EAM Jaishankar is on official visits to the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany from May 19 to 24.

Earlier in his trip to the Netherlands, EAM Jaishankar emphasized India's commitment to fighting terrorism.

In an interview with Dutch daily de Volkskrant, EAM stated, "We want a definitive end to terrorism. " Our message is thus: yes, the cease has stopped military action against each other for the time being, but if terrorist attacks from Pakistan continue, there will be consequences. The Pakistanis must understand this quite effectively.

Jaishankar also had a fruitful meeting in Copenhagen on Wednesday (local time) with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen to strengthen Indo-Danish ties.

During the talks, Jaishankar complimented Denmark's solidarity and support for India's struggle against terrorism.
